Our office has been servicing clients in the Fredericton area for over fifty years. Winston Parsons, CA established the firm in 1954 and in 1962 Winston Nicholson, CA was hired. In 2007, with the addition of Jeff Beaumont, the firm name became Nicholson & Beaumont Chartered Accountants. Greg Mercer joined the firm in 2010 and became partner in 2013.

Our Team

Jeff Beaumont, CPA, CA
Greg Mercer, CPA, CA


Jeff has been a partner at Nicholson & Beaumont since 2007. He obtained his CA designation in 2003 while working for a national firm in Fredericton, N.B.  He is primarily responsible for business development, human resources and operations at the firm. 

Jeff enjoys helping his clients with taxation, business advisory, budgeting and cash management.Jeff is active is his profession, and has been marking the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE) since 2004, and each year helps students prepare for the exam. He is a council member of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants, and is a past director of the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountants.

In his spare time Jeff enjoys playing softball, running, and playing for the office bowling team. He also can be found either watching and actively cheering on his daughter, Lucy, at basketball, or his son,  Jacob, on the soccer field.

Jeremy Cole, CPA, CA

Originally from Woodstock, New Brunswick, Jeremy graduated from UNB Fredericton in 2001.  After graduation Jeremy moved to Miramichi, New Brunswick to work for a national firm where he received his chartered accountant designation in 2004.  In 2013 Jeremy joined Nicholson & Beaumont as a principal, assisting clients with tax planning and compliance, as well as accounting, assurance and advisory services. 


Jeremy is a board member of the Fredericton Non-Profit Housing Corporation.  Jeremy has also enjoyed using his spare time to coach rugby and as a basketball official.  You will also find Jeremy playing on his basketball team or spending time with his wife (Danielle) and two daughters (Haley and Julie).


Matthew Mahoney, CPA, CA
Senior Manager

Greg joined Nicholson & Beaumont in early 2010 and was admitted into the partnership in 2013. He began his accounting career in 2003 at a national firm in Fredericton, NB while attending the University of New Brunswick. Greg obtained his CA in 2008 and has been assisting clients with their taxation and assurance requirements since that time. Along with Jeff, he is responsible for business development, staff scheduling and firm operations.

After receiving his designation, Greg applied to mark the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE) and has done so on several occasions since 2009. This experience has helped him in being better equipped to assist Nicholson & Beaumont’s staff members obtain their professional designation.


When he is not in the office, Greg enjoys playing golf, softball and bowling. He also enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Krystal, and sons, Hudson and Thatcher.

Melanie Jones, CPA, CGA
Senior Manager

Melanie joined Nicholson & Beaumont in 2010 when it was amalgamated with Hunter Porter Hetu.  She had previously worked for Hunter Porter Hetu since 2000.  She received her CGA designation in 2009. Melanie works with a variety of small and medium sized businesses in an array from construction to professionals.  She enjoys helping clients deal with all aspects of accounting, from setting up bookkeeping systems to providing help with financial and taxation issues. When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling and skiing.

Leanne Perrin,

Matthew joined Nicholson & Beaumont in May 2016. He received his BBA with honors in accounting and a concentration in finance from UNB in 2009, and became a Chartered Accountant in 2011.

At the firm, Matthew assists clients with tax planning and compliance, and accounting and assurance services. In addition to his work at Nicholson & Beaumont, Matthew is also the Treasurer of the Pine Grove Foundation.

In Matt's spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, camping, hiking , playing hockey and golf. 

Leanne joined the firm in 2018, she obtained her designation in 2002 after beginning her career with a national firm in Fredericton, NB. From 2003 to 2008 she lived in Bermuda working for a National firm. Leanne has worked many years in public practice assisting clients with all aspects from audits, to accounting and tax.

Leanne volunteers with several boards in the community. She keeps busy outside of work crafting and enjoys teaching at Crabbe in her spare time as well as spending quality time with her husband and 2 boys.

Michael English, CPA

Winston has over 40 years of experience in accounting and audit, and has been a partner in the firm for over 30 years.

Michael was born and raised in Miramichi before moving to Fredericton to attend the University of New Brunswick, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration and honors in accounting in May of 2012. He joined Nicholson & Beaumont in June of that year and in 2017 obtained his CPA designation.

In his spare time Michael enjoys playing baseball, softball and hockey.

Dan Keddy, CPA, CGA
Ajai Achuthan, B. Com
Senior Accountant

Dan has been with Nicholson & Beaumont since 2014. He obtained his CPA and CGA designations in 2014 with the firm. Dan has worked in the accounting industry since 2008 beginning his career with a national firm in Fredericton N.B. He started working while attending UNB Fredericton, where he obtained a BBA with honors in accounting and a concentration in finance. Dan started as a co-op student and worked up to the role of senior accountant.


Dan is primarily responsible for speciality engagements, client service and new business development at the firm. He enjoys helping his clients with taxation, business advisory and his eye for detail enables him to work on the majority of our office’s special engagements.


When not working, Dan enjoys playing with his son, Jackson, as well as playing board games with friends and family. He also enjoys fishing and exploring the wilderness of the Province.

Ajai is a dual qualified professional as a Chartered Accountant and a Lawyer from India. He joined the Nicholson & Beaumont team in 2021. He brings with him more than 15 years of experience as an accounting, finance and legal professional advising global and local clients. He is currently in the process of obtaining his CPA designation through the accreditation process with CPA Canada.

When he is not working, Ajai enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, travelling and exploring new places and cultures. 

Shuang Sha, BBA
Patrick Gamblin, BA

Shuang graduated with a BBA from The University of New Brunswick with First Class Honors in accounting and a concentration in finance. She is currently enrolled with the CPA Atlantic PEP program. Shuang joined Nicholson and Beaumont in October of 2015.

In her spare time she volunteers at the Chinese Cultural Association of New Brunswick. When not working or volunteering, Shuang enjoys socializing with friends and gardening. 

Patrick has received a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of New Brunswick and a Diploma in Business Administration, with Honors, from the New Brunswick Community College.

He joined the firm in February of 2016 and works on monthly bookkeeping and payroll, as well as helping with whatever else needs to be done.

In his free time, Patrick enjoys hanging out with his friends and his cat, playing tabletop and video games, and watching shows He also co-hosts a podcast about strange stuff on the internet.

Mitch Vanderlaan, BSC
Haley Sands,

Mitch earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management with concentration in Accounting from Cornell University in May of 2019. Following graduation, Mitch spent a year playing minor league hockey before returning to New Brunswick. He joined Nicholson & Beaumont in September of 2020.

In Mitch’s spare time he enjoys being active outdoors, playing hockey, and watching Formula 1 racing.

Haley joined Nicholson & Beaumont in the spring of 2019 after completing the accounting and payroll course at Eastern College. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, friends and two dogs.

Emily MacDonald,

Emily was born and raised in Halifax, NS. She relocated with her husband in 2012 to Oromocto. After having her son 2015 and working odd jobs, in 2018 she decided to go back to school for Accounting and Payroll at Eastern College. She graduated with honors in December 2019 and joined Nicholson & Beaumont shortly after in early 2020. She works on clients monthly bookkeeping, payroll and anything else that needs to be done.

In her spare time she enjoys family time with her husband, children and dog.

Kim Dakin
Administrative Assistant

Kimberly Dakin was born in Bathurst, NB and moved to the Fredericton area in 1983. She attended Oromocto High School and graduated 1990.  After high school Kim went onto work in the retail business until 2001 when she decided she wanted a more challenging career.  So with the support of her friends and family she made the decision to return to school at CompuCollege. In 2004 she obtained her Administrative Assistant Diploma.


Kim joined the Nicholson & Beaumont team in January 2005 as an Administrative Assistant. Today, she is responsible for  day-to-day operations including; book keeping, payroll and all administrative duties. An important aspect of her life is family -- her husband of 20 years, her daughter, grand-daughter and their two cats.
